Travel Impressions: The Dominican Republic

Dear Special Guests,
Is it just me, or is there a giant green frog living down there? Do you see it? Kind of like imagining shapes in clouds I guess. Another island fly-over and I was looking down again!! Notice the amazing color variation of the waters on the left side of the island to the right! If you fly from Miami, your flight is only about 1.5 hours to Puerto Plata. United and Jet Blue, for example, have direct flights to Puerto Plata from Liberty International out of Newark and JFK in New York for our guests in the northeast. Their total flight times are just a little over 3 hours. (BTW, we have special guests going down today from New York. They have agreed for me to post snippets here, as well as feature their visit to the north coast on our website after they return.) This travel time makes the north coast of the Dominican Republic "close" to home and the DR is such a friendly and safe part of the world to visit. There is a strong European influence on the island. We meet people from all over the world vacationing at the resort; always someone for Austria or Germany it seems. Did you know that during and after WWII, the DR opened its doors to Jewish people fleeing from persecution in Europe? There's a strong Jewish presence in the area even today.
